Detection

Detection & Security Monitoring

Better signal, not more alerts.

A monitoring program is not measured by how many alerts it generates. It is measured by whether a real intrusion would be noticed, and whether the people on call would know what to do about it. PhoenoSec builds toward that standard.

Start with coverage, not tooling

Detection work begins by establishing which attacker behaviors you could currently detect and which you could not. Coverage is mapped against a recognized behavioral model so gaps are concrete rather than theoretical.

  • Log-source inventory and telemetry gap analysis
  • Detection coverage mapped to MITRE ATT&CK techniques relevant to your environment
  • Identification of blind spots across cloud, identity, network and endpoint
  • Retention and cost modelling before ingest expands

Detection engineering

Detections are written, tested and documented as engineering artifacts: each one has a hypothesis, a data dependency, a known false-positive profile and a response expectation. Detections nobody can action are removed.

  • Use-case development and detection authoring
  • Validation testing against simulated activity
  • Documented triage and response guidance per detection
  • Version-controlled detection content

Tuning and operational load

Alert fatigue is a security control failure. Existing alerting is triaged for precision, suppressed where it is noise, and enriched where analysts are missing context they need to make a call quickly.

  • Alert precision review and noise suppression
  • Enrichment with asset, identity and business context
  • XDR / EDR integration and coverage deduplication
  • Escalation path and on-call runbook design

How engagements work

A process built to end in decisions, not documents

Every PhoenoSec engagement follows the same four movements, scaled to the size of the work.

  1. 01

    Understand

Learn the organization, technology environment, business requirements, threats, and constraints.

  2. 02

    Assess

Evaluate the relevant infrastructure, controls, architecture, processes, and security exposure.

  3. 03

    Prioritize

Separate critical issues from lower-risk findings and create a practical remediation roadmap.

  4. 04

    Improve

Help implement, validate, and mature the organization's security program.
